Last night i could not sleep. The clock was ticking 12.30 AM. Thought i will speak to any of my friend online. Ajith a very close friend of mine, was online from Brazil. Before i could buzz him, i got a hi from him. He sent me a file and said read this. Yaar so late at night you want me to read a doc? It was a poem...I started reading. Felt emotional. Who are you talking about Aji? Guess, he said.
I guessed, and i guessed right...It was me... Thankx Aji...

She is My Frend...

She is on of my dearest friend..
one who got me thru, when i thot my life was to end!
she cares for me like i am her child
taking me out of my shell and makin me mild

she showed me that someone can be true to you
while really expecting nothing from you
i talk to her as if to a wall i talkin
but not really.. a wall wont the way she listen

sometimes shes a child who needs some spanking
and i luv it when i bcom a big brother in the makin..
that makes me feel, just child little am not
i feel like i have it all figured out

she's got a husband who loves her more than his own life
and a daughter they love more than their own life
and a friend sitting away from her.. always there for her
all i kno.. she's one bestest friend

dear to me till my life's end..
lose her is something i cant even bear thinking...
she's one of those people who makes my life worth living :)

Children’s Day…Jaane Kaha Gaye Woh Din…

In school there were two days for which I would wait anxiously. One was social service day and the other was Children’s day. In India November 14th is celebrated as Children’s Day. It is our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday.

Last evening I was talking to my neighbor’s daughter. I Asked her how would she celebrate Children’s Day. "Oh nothing special aunty. Our teachers have arranged a small program. Afternoon is off, I will come home and will be on Orkut." Man that shocked me. She would be orkutting on Children’s day.

Is this how we spent our Children’s Day years ago? I see today, that fun and merriment hardly exists. Whatever be the event kids are not interested anymore. They are either too busy studying, some are interested in sports and the others are Orkutting…

I remember when I was in school, I used to look forward for this day. On November 14th we were permitted to wear civilian dress. The day began with prayer and then there was sports. Every student in the school had to participate. Lemon and spoon race… Breaking the pot…. Running race… Bursting the baloon… were some games that our teachers conducted. At noon there would be cultural program organized by our teachers. I still can’t forget how our teachers danced and sang for us. After the program we were given ice creams or some sweets. The whole day would be so eventful. The best part of the day was that we need not get our books.

This generation is devoid of all the frolic that our generation had. What happened? Who went wrong and why? Did our education system change that rapidly, that they feel these days are of no importance anymore? Or is it the advent of new technology that has caused this disinterest. Whatever be the reason, I really hope that things change. After a couple of years when my daughter is in school, I don’t want her to say, "What’s the big deal about Children’s Day?"

My first blog...

I have been seeing various blogs. For a long time I have been contemplating of starting one too. But for some reason or the other it never happened.

But today I started my blog… Suma’s musings!

Why did I create this blog. Honestly I have no idea. May be I want to pen my thoughts…my feelings.

People have done great blogging. I admire two bloggers very much. One is Indira Singari of Mahanandi. Maam ur blog is simply splendid. Another is Immigrant in Canada. Superb writings. I hope some day your writings are published.

Today…
Film Vivah staring Shahid Kapoor and Amritha Rao hit theatres. Jala ( a close frend of mine) saw the film. He says its good. Now that kinda made me sit straight. Bcoz rarely does he say that a film is good. Taran Adarsh reviewed Vivah..he says the first half is slow but the second half is good, like all Rajashree productions. I am yet to see the film… Rajashree Productions are known for films, which have an entertaining first half. Then a tragedy occurs. Suddenly you have this feeling that you are pushed into a pit of sadness. That’s exactly what I felt when I saw Hum Aapke Hai Koun…

I am listening to Himesh Reshamiya’s Tanhaiyaan… to tell you the truth I just hated his Aashiq Banaya Aapne… People have stoned this guy with lotz of criticism. That did not matter to him or his flourishing career. Many singers detest his nasal voice. My daughter who is just 1.6 yrs old cant stop dancing for his Jhalak Dikhlaja… that’s when I really stopped and listened to his songs. I must say that i liked them. This year during Dahi Handi (Sri krishna Janmastami) and Ganpati (Ganesh Festival) every loud speaker in Pune was playing Himesh’s Aashiq banaya. It was a too much for me to handle…probably that’s why I hated this songs.
